So yesterday I started my new job.Yeah I was supposed to start Monday, but since I was a gypsy in training in my previous life, my background check took 2 longer than expected agonizing days. Anyway. Let me pause to acknowledge that affirmative action might have helped me into that door. Aside from the given that I have a degree and purchasing/buying experience, I'm the only "brown" face in that office, besidethe Janitor, my new homegirl. VERNA.
Back to my point, cause this is about her.
I'm 23 and I've seen the news shows and special invesitgations about how your supposed to treat everyone the same.
You know those first day introductions when your walked around to meet everyone, smile, and shake hands (note to self:continue with the vitamin C and drink a gallon of tea to ward off the cooties). Well I noticed my new manager skipped over some people. Perhaps the little people in his eyes. Including my girl Verna, whom I ended up having to introduce myself to 2 hours later, after I realized he wasn't going to. I'm not even sure if he knows her name.
But yooo. She had the warmest smile. She couldn't really speak a lick of English, but a smile is golden everywhere but Hell. I dont think I could be a janitor. She probably has the hardest job in that place. But I'm glad I tookt he time to meet her and smile. She remininded me just how important that it. So I challeneg those that read my blog to smile and greet someone who you normally wouldn't. It may make their day and surprise you at how it makes yours.

Good luck with your job. I do make an honest effort to greet people, however hard they make it.
I have too many words for this.
I might have to do that today and goodluck with your new job, I'm hoping to be hired somewhere new too :)
Never look over the "little people", especially the janitors who are really the line of communication. We tend to thank that cleaning or janitors are low-class working people. My uncle runs his own janitorial business. He bought a real nice house in the suburbs, raised three boys and takes care of my Aunt. He's happy, and always has the inside scoop of whats going on at a company because people do notice his him. So if you want to know who is up for a promotion, or is on their way out the door. Stick by a janitor cause they'll keep you in the loop.

Thanks for hitting me up on my blog!
Actually, it seemed to be a silent roll out.
Like I put on my blog, I didn't know that this drink was announced back in October.
Good luck with your job!
