When I choose public administration as my major in 2004 (damn that sounds long ago), my intentions were to become a foreign services officer, get a doctorate degree in public policy or international relations and work as a professor and political analyst. I still want to be a professor, but I'm cool on being a policy analyst. and if they keep shooting up these classrooms, I'm going strictly distance learning.
I've always said that while America utilizes a democratic government model, it is not a true democracy. Our bi-partisian government forces one to be left or right with no representable center(well Ralph Nader is always there). So I have been turned off from politics for some time now. Although I did vote in the local mayorial election because my mom reminded me that my grandmother marched and fought for me to have the ability to vote.
But enter THE OBAMA. And I refer to him as THE because he is a mchine to be reckoned with.beastmode. Watch 5 minutes, 2 minutes, of an Obama speech and you cant help but at least respect the man.
I first heard of Barack in 2004 at the Democractic National Convention. Following that I was thirsty for more and read his autobiography, "Dreams of my father". Why THE OBAMA? He is what this country needs. I accept that he is not perfect and this country has been accepting the fact that G. DUBYA is not perfect for 8 years. I believe the OBAMA can restore the global reputation of the United States, which is far more effective than threatning war on any country suspected of having weapons of "mass destruction" (that is such a fear inducing phrase its almost funny).
I beleive he lacks that personal agenda, unlike our current adminstration with many underlying personal interests. I believe THE what OBAMA really wants a better country. And thats what is important to me. I was a BILLARY supporter, but I dont feel that she is what this country needs. We need a fresh persepctive, because we have had 20 years of Bush/Clinton administrations and that shit is STALE!
So that is why I am voting for THE OBAMA. I am a registered independant. I vote for the best candidate. I am not voting for him because he is black. I am voting for him because he is the first politician since I became able to vote in 2002 that makes me believe that the US and its politicians aren't as bad as they are reputed to be. And...I believe that he cares what happens to us as a country even if he does not win.
